Artist’s Journey
Vladyslav Melnyk
23.01.1996
Born in Dnipro, now based in Kyiv, Ukraine
Self-taught artist, works in the direction of abstractionism, before painting he was engaged in film photography.
Vladyslav deliberately decided not to be bound by the frameworks of academic education, because they are only a barrier to the intimate relationship between the artist and the viewer. He remains on the side of the beholder, talking in the language one understands. Vlad’s work is the visual expression of the silent cry of a generation. Something that everyone feels, but no one can express.

It all began in 2017 when I decided to fully dedicate myself to art and never look back.
With the help of my artist friends, books and lectures on YouTube, I learned to paint, and two years later I had my first personal exhibition.
I realized that I didn’t want to pay so much attention to the meanings of an artwork and put aside figurative painting. At that time my paintings were selling well, but I decided to go into abstract painting. It was incredibly difficult.
After creating more than 200 paintings, I realized that I truly liked only 20 of them.
Over the following three years, I focused on refining my artistic vision and technique, collaborating with young Ukrainian artists, sharing experiences, and gaining valuable insights. Exhibitions played a crucial role in helping me understand the workings of the art world better.
In 2021, I established my first partnership with an agent. Since then, my artworks have begun to receive international attention.

Most of my paintings are in private collections all over the world.
After the full-scale invasion, I joined the Air Force to not only help promote Ukrainian culture but also to fight the enemy.
